This delightful monograph admirably fulfills the author's stated purpose of definitively demonstrating that the combination of an asymmetric horizontal optokinetic nystagmus response and a hemianoptic field defect is characteristic of a deep parietal lobe lesion. However, the monograph does much more than this. It also provides an excellent and up-to-date account of neuroophthalmologic diagnosis as applied to cerebral localization and certain brain stem entities. His comments on macula sparing and congruity are worth noting in view of current teachings. The clinical data are concise, to the point, and convincing, and both positive and negative evidence is presented. The text radiates the author's enthusiasm for his subject, and there are many "pearls." The summaries are neat and definite aids to memory. This is a must reading for all interested in neuro-ophthalmology.
