This book launches into a definition of epilepsy and seizures and a discussion of the disorders which can simulate epilepsy. The treatment, medical, dietary, and surgical, is outlined. There is a section on the various services available for the epileptic patient. Discussions on intelligence, behavior, personality of epilepsy, socioeconomic and hereditary factors and prognosis are also included. There is an appendix which includes a list of films on epilepsy, a special discussion on the 14- and 6-per-second EEG discharge which is actually a very short editorial with a special bibliography, and then a glossary of medical terms used in the book.

It is indeed difficult to write a book intended to educate the physician and the nonmedical reader at the same time.
