This textbook first appeared in 1955, was rewritten, the second edition appearing in 1959, and the present volume is the third rewriting. The original organization of the book has been retained in each of the subsequent issues, but there have been an excellent incorporation of new material and the introduction of new and even better illustrations and tables as these have become available. Radiographic and pathological illustrations are outstanding, and the roentgenographic illustrations of vascular patterns in vascular disease and tumors as well as the new illustrations of clinical entities are excellent. New information, such as the recent classification of headache, has been melded into the framework of the book.
The textbook by Dr. Merritt is remarkable in its completeness of illustrations and text, and its clarity, lucidity, and brevity of presentation. This book must be brought to the attention of every medical student and general practitioner.
