The first edition of this now famous textbook appeared in 1933, the fifth edition in 1955. With the sixth edition, we have a thorough-going reworking of the text in a most attractive book with print and page size considerably enlarged.
Those who have been following neurological textbooks since the appearance of Lord Brain's first edition know what a reliable guide his book has been. It is a real pleasure to test the 1962 edition, turning to this and that condition to find them succinctly outlined according to the information that has accumulated to date. The references that terminate each chapter are as authoritative as the text.
The writing is crisp and informed with a lively interest to all that is transpiring in a rapidly expanding field. The author has not been able to avoid the spell of the misleading term, "space-occupying lesion." (What lesion does not occupy space?) Those
