This monograph on the vestibular nuclei and their central connections represents a comprehensive synthesis and correlation of anatomical and physiological studies conducted over a period of years by internationally recognized anatomists at the University of Oslo and physiologists from the University of Pisa. While the material considered by the authors concerns studies done in the cat, the extensive literature which is critically reviewed and analyzed is more inclusive.

The text is divided into two parts of nearly equal length devoted to: (1) the anatomy of the vestibular nuclei and their central connections, and (2) physiological data on the vestibular nuclei and anatomicophysiological correlations.
