This monograph reviews the roentgenology of intracranial meningiomas seen at the Montreal Neurological Institute between the years 1934 and 1953. The major portion of the material covered is a result of direct experience with 170 patients with verified meningiomas.

Dr. Traub stresses the importance of plain radiography of the skull in the diagnosis of meningioma. Eighty-seven per cent of the patients involved in this study had abnormal skull films. The fact that these abnormalities were nonspecific in more than half the patients should not detract from the value of plain skull radiography. Unusually clear reproductions of the radiographs accompany the text.

The experience of this clinic shows that pneumoencephalography can accurately localize meningiomas in a high percentage of cases. The scope of experience with intracranial angiography and meningiomas is less complete. This shortcoming is in part compensated by frequent referrals to the literature on this subject.
