The fifth edition of Current Therapy in Neurologic Disease will undoubtedly be as successful as the preceding ones, and that means it will be successful indeed. The book covers major topics only and therefore inevitably some topics are overlooked. There is no way the developmental disorders section, for example, can cover everything, but nevertheless it is interesting that Rett syndrome was selected as 1 of the 5 major topics to be discussed. The emphasis in the entire book is on therapy, but it is impossible not to summarize clinical features leading up to therapy, and the able individual authors were allowed their own style. For example, under syringomyelia each major paragraph starts with a question. Some authors use tables effectively and these range from summaries of classification or diagnostic criteria as in the "Learning Disabled" chapter to decision trees in that chapter and in numerous others including the chapter on . . .
