This is a curious book, consisting solely of hard-covered reprints from Dementia, the papers being those presented at the Second Symposium on Ageing and Ageing Disorders held in August 1993 in Stockholm, Sweden. As the material has all been previously published, amounts to only a few pages, and will be available in the journal in most departments where vascular dementia is a subject of interest, it is difficult to recommend the book or to see how its price is justified.

Of the 18 papers, all but two are from northern Europe. There are two from North America and none from Japan. The material covered is diverse, ranging from concepts of vascular dementia through a discussion of current criteria to clinical features, risk factors, and biochemical aspects. As would be expected from a series of papers, it provides patchy coverage of vascular dementia and does not cover any one aspect completely. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
