My first reaction on being asked to review this book was to wonder why anyone would want to write and publish another textbook of neurology. Certainly, such texts are not in short supply. Most are edited using the expertise of numerous authors and are directed primarily at neurologic residents and practitioners. This text was written almost entirely by Dr Guberman, except for two chapters relating to pediatric neurology and the chapter on multiple sclerosis, which were written by contributors. I mention this because it is no mean feat for one individual to write a fairly comprehensive neurology textbook, even though he has directed the text at "learners of neurology," which I interpret to mean medical students. In fact, this text would also be useful for beginning residents in neurology and nonneurologists with an interest in neurologic disease.
