Many texts have appeared on the subject of headache, but this large book has become a standard reference work in its field and continues, in its sixth edition, to earn high marks. It covers the entire range of headache subjects with chapters on each headache entity and about every pathophysiological element. Most of the chapters have been rewritten and expanded with up-to-date references. Particularly notable is the expansion of the chapter on diagnosis and treatment of migraine, with helpful details concerning management of the acute attack, and of the refractory headache requiring hospitalization. There has been consolidation of chapters in headache with brain tumors and headache with alterations in intracranial pressure into a well-organized chapter on headache from all varieties of intracranial structural changes.
