Basic Neuroscience is an introduction to the basic anatomy and physiology of the human nervous system. According to the author, this book"... is intended for a wide variety of students who want to know how the nervous systems works...." (page v). Where larger, more comprehensive textbooks become cumbersome, this book attempts to provide a readable source of basic information and clinical applications for students taking a neuroscience course. The text is divided into seven sections, and, although only one of these sections is devoted to gross anatomy, many of the remaining sections on physiology begin with a brief review of the relevant anatomy. The final two sections use an integrative approach to link basic structure and function with complex motor activity and behavior.
The strength of this textbooklies in the author's ability to explain the complex physiology of the nervous system using simple concepts and helpful clinical examples. Salient features
