Learning Disabilities is a brief review of the literature concerning treatments of learning disabilities (LD). According to the author, it is intended "... for professionals whose opinions may be sought on one or more forms of treatment..." (p vii) and for parents of children with LD. In preparing this work, the author reviewed the considerable literature on LD, selecting for discussion only research on treatments that represented the highest quality of scientific inquiry. After a short, but critical, analysis of experimental designs encountered in his review, Feldman discusses the diagnosis and classification of LD and various approaches to treatment, including educational interventions, optometric therapy, sensoryintegration therapy, nutritional treatments, psychological interventions, and pharmacologic treatments of attentiondeficit disorders and hyperactivity. A section on recommendations for practice follows each review of treatment.
