The view that the pituitary tumor is truly a disorder of broad multidisciplinary interest is quickly reinforced by a perusal of the contents and list of contributors to this volume. The newest developments in the field, eg, neuropharmacology, transsphenoidal surgery, and molecular endocrinology, should attract the attention of the neurologic clinician, and this book will provide an interesting review for those working in the field.

This inaugural volume of the Progress in Endocrine Research and Therapy series focuses on both basic and clinical aspects of the four major types of secretory pituitary tumors. The emphasis is on the endocrinemetabolic aspects of these tumors, and the bulk of the material is targeted at the clinical endocrinologist.
