—A Consensus Development Conference titled "The Utility of Therapeutic Plasmapheresis for Neurological Disorders" will be held June 2-4,1986, in the Masur Auditorium at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892. The conference is sponsored by The National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke, The Clinical Center, and the NIH Office of Medical Applications of Research.

Plasmapheresis, or plasma exchange, is a technique for removing substances from the blood that may cause or promote disease. It has been used for a wide variety of neurological illnesses, but proper indications and the risk-benefit ratio have been uncertain.
