The book is a symposium on a variety of topics related to vertebrobasilar circulation. The first three chapters are dedicated to the description of the clinical syndromes related to vertebrobasilar insufficiency. This includes a description of the differential diagnosis of vertebrobasilar transient ischemic attacks and vertigo. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the description of noninvasive studies of the vertebrobasilar system. The fifth chapter is dedicated to a description of the radiologic evaluation of the vertebrobasilar tree.
All of these chapters are brief and generally descriptive, including details regarding the clinical parameters used when evaluating patients with vertebrobasilar insufficiency, enough for the general practitioner or internist interested in a quick evaluation of the problem.
The chapter on noninvasive studies is interesting, although one wonders whether the accuracy of these studies really is as precise as the authors describe. There is a considerable problem with evaluation of the carotid artery by
