The article by Woolsey1 entitled "Rehabilitation Outcome Following Spinal Cord Injury" is a particularly important work for neurologists who may occasionally see patients with spinal cord injury but who are not closely involved with this subject. The field has changed in many ways during the past two decades, and the results have been impressive. One change has been the frequency of renal failure, which was long known to be a major cause of death in this population.
