The book is edited by Decker, from the Nervenklinik der Universität, München, who contributes approximately 70% of the material, some of it in collaboration with Wiedenmann. The remainder is written by Fishgold and Metzger (Hôpital de la Petié, Paris), McRae (Montreal Neurological Institute, Canada), Taveras (Neurological Institute, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York) and Schunk and Mark (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston).
Opening with a discussion of the examination of the skull, with special emphasis on the cranial base projection, the book goes on to describe techniques and various views for different foramen, petrous ridges, sphenoid bone, internal auditory meatus, and atlanto-occipital passage. The technique and value of fractional controlled pneumoencephalography, ventriculography, and carotid and vertebral arteriography are presented in the generally accepted manner. Myelography, using nonsoluble, watersoluble, and gas agent, is covered, including the technique, indication, and choice of examination.
