This issue of the Journal of the International League Against Epilepsy is appropriately dedicated to a man who contributed a major part of his life to the scientific investigation of epilepsy, William Gordon Lennox. A sensitive man with a remarkable curiosity and a deep compassion for the epileptic patient, he made major contributions in the field of epilepsy and clinical electroencephalography, and was largely responsible for the very existence of the Epilepsy League and this journal. His untimely death was felt by all those who know his work and especially by those to whom he gave so much, the patient with epilepsy.
The contributing authors, from many countries, make up an impressive list of persons working in the field of epilepsy. Many have worked directly or indirectly with Dr. Lennox. To mention those of unusual interest would be to mention all, which unfortunately is beyond the scope of this review.
