The Neurology Service of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Boston, in celebrating C. Miller Fisher Day on Sept 7, 1980, honored itself as much as it did him, for he is and has been for 26 years the central figure in its clinical activities.

Miller Fisher came to the MGH and Harvard Medical School after an impressive performance as a student at the University of Toronto Medical School, a distinguished record as Surgeon Lieutenant Commander with the Royal Navy of Great Britain and the Canadian Navy, and postgraduate training at the Montreal Neurological Institute and the Neurological Research Unit of Harvard University at the Boston City Hospital. He has achieved international fame for himself and our service.
