This is a pragmatic, clearly written book that reviews the spectrum of childhood seizures. The purpose of the authors, both pediatric neurologists from the Neurology Service of the Hospital de Ninos of Buenos Aires, is to present a didactic, practical account of the subject, useful to the pediatrician. It is written in Spanish.
The book is divided into two major portions that complement each other. The initial portion deals with clinical aspects of childhood seizures, and the second portion is an EEG atlas, with representative recordings of the different entities considered.
The first four chapters summarize basic epidemiological, EEG, and etiological concepts of the epilepsies. The clinical section is organized following the proposed international classification of seizures. In a systematic fashion, the different seizure types are described, followed by their EEG characteristics, auxiliary evaluations, prognosis, and treatment.
