This text by Drs Bell and McCormick was first published in 1972 and has become an important reference source for medical students, pediatricians, and trainees in the various neurological disciplines. Since publication of the first edition, major advances have been made in our understanding of cerebral metabolism, cerebral blood flow, CSF dynamics, management of several clinical entities including Reye's syndrome, and so forth. And the advent of computerized tomography (CT) has revolutionized our approach to the many neurological diseases associated with increased intracranial pressure. Hence the need for a second edition of this text. The authors have effectively expanded the various chapters by including more recent contributions to our understanding of each subject and appropriate descriptions of CT scan abnormalities.
