This book is a welcome addition to the field of pediatric radiology, especially pediatric neuroradiology. It fully complements volume 5, which dealt with procedures and indications in pediatric neuroradiology. Dr Kaufmann and associates have lucidly presented clinical aspects without burdening the reader with a voluminous text.
The topics covered are craniosynostosis, asymmetry of the skull, meninges, intracranial calcifications, intracranial and intraspinal tumors, and computed tomographic (CT) scanning. Each chapter spells out the embryology, pathophysiology, and approach to evaluation of the problem. Exceptional sections are those dealing with craniosynostosis, intracranial and intraspinal tumors, and CT scanning.
The quality of radiographic reproductions with up-to-date techniques is excellent.
An attractive feature of the text is the special article on treatment by shunts and its complications. The illustrations are well marked to guide the reader through the maze of plumbing in problem children with longstanding hydrocephalus. Although the book is aimed at the pediatric
