This soft-covered manual is written principally for the medical student. The contents are an initial chapter on diagnosis of surgical pathology affecting the nervous system. Subsequent sections are concerned with congenital CNS lesions, intracranial and intraspinal neoplasms, vascular CNS abnormalities, and spinal cord trauma, intervertebral disks, and peripheral nerve lesions. The manual contains briefer discussions on infection of the CNS, surgical treatment of pain, epilepsy, and involuntary movement disorders. The text is clinically oriented and is a practical approach to neurosurgery; however, there is a lack of anatomicopathologic correlation.

Each topic is referenced to provide more in-depth study by the reader, and the end of each chapter has self-evaluation questions pertaining to the text with the answers in the appendix.
