We are pleased to publish news of interest to our readership including major appointments, announcements of societies and information about future meetings and symposia in greater detail than the calendar permits.

The presently used format will be continued. Please make announcements concise. Complex and multiple institutional names and addresses are sometimes longer than content and should be reduced to a minimum needed for effective communication. Ordinarily announcements of educational programs for which registration charges are greater than $25 are appropriate for the advertising pages and should be sent directly to Advertising Department, American Medical Association, 535 N Dearborn St, Chicago, IL 60610, Attention: Raymond Christian. Charges greater than this will not be quoted in "news" although some programs may be described. The minimum lead time necessary is four months prior to cover date. Some disappointment has resulted from failure to publish accepted announcements because of late submission.
