The eighth edition of this textbook has been expanded to 1,277 pages. This is 215 more than the seventh edition, which was published in 1969.
The material covered is extensive. It is a credit to the author that he has been able to compress such a bulk of material into one volume. This has been done with some sacrifice in the thickness and quality of the paper; hence, some of the illustrations are not so sharp and clear as they were in previous editions. This observation applies particularly to the radiographs. The author has placed arrows to direct the reader to the points of interest yet in a few instances, at least, the details cannot be made out.
The book is modernized, and the most common neurological disorders are given appropriate space. The less frequently encountered conditions are noted and referenced. One can find excellent handling of such disorders as
