In Reply.—
Dr Van Woert is correct concerning the advisability of a trial of L-5-hydroxytryptophan with carbidopa and clonazepam in cases of myoclonic epilepsy. However, the three patients reported in our series were all treated before the five references cited by Dr Van Woert appeared in the literature.
Second, the measurement of blood levels of antiepileptic drugs is a routine procedure on any patient being treated for epilepsy on our service.
