These three valuable books, each in its own way, emphasize the recent rapid growth of knowledge concerning man's early neurological development. They differ substantially in content and style and direct themselves towards somewhat different audiences, but all deserve attention.

Winick's monograph, the shortest of the three, achieves the considerable feat of being sufficiently narrative to be read in one sitting, yet detailed enough to provide an excellent summary of its topic.
