This is a descriptive and relatively didactic monograph by the Professor of Geriatric Medicine at Belfast, with generous borrowings from the late L. J. Hurwitz. Dr Hurwitz made major neurological contributions to the Belfast scene, and his premature death was not only a great loss to Irish neurology, but left many of his Writings in widely separated sources. Accordingly, this clinical volume is useful because it gives much of his experience and wisdom along with that of the principal author. The book covers all phases of stroke, from pathogenesis to rehabilitation, and provides a sensible and well-balanced introduction to the field.
