The goal of this compendium of ocular motor disorders is to provide a conceptual framework for understanding supranuclear eye movement control and a methodical approach to the examination and diagnosis of abnormal eye movements. The authors have succeeded.
Six chapters describe eye movement systems, their anatomic substrates, methods of examination, nystagmus, the vestibular motor system, and, finally, a review of disorders of the eye movement mechanism, in only 156 pages. One hundred ten illustrations complement the text. Brevity and clarity of exposition will provide students of neurology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology with a rapid introduction to this discipline.
The presentation is didactic, reflecting the authors' considerable combined experience and personal interpretations of eye movement phenomenology. Readers looking for a scientific discussion of controversial aspects of ocular motor dysfunction will not find it in this book.
