This is an attractively produced, relatively brief volume that stems from a course the authors have given to medical students at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. Chapters cover seizure disorders, the limbic system, schizophrenia, organic brain syndromes, biogenic amines, and manifestations of anxiety. Generally speaking, the book is well done and probably the best encompassing presentation that one can find of the several subjects in a succinct form. The sections on seizure disorders and schizophrenia are skillfully done; those on limbic system and organic brain syndromes are less so. One wonders why, however, of all the possible behavioral changes in neurological illness, biogenic amines were selected in preference to others, particularly when items such as Alzheimer disease or the other dementias are largely skimmed over. The criticism is offered because this very good little book will undoubtedly go into further editions that could profitably try to cover this important subject . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
