As befits a festschrift for J.Z. Young, these essays are predominantly anatomical-physiologic in slant, elegantly fundamental in their concern, and generally a pleasure to read. The catholic coverage of the 19 contributions is so broad that the volume seems most likely to be of interest to those wanting to maintain a breadth of knowledge by sampling well-written material outside their immediate range of interest. The volume admirably meets this goal, but the unfortunate price may limit its distribution.
