This beautifully produced elementary text strikes one as close to the ideal presentation of nervous system structure and function for the beginning medical student. The book is divided into two halves, anatomy first and physiology second. It is well illustrated with diagrammatic presentations, and where ultrastructural figures are used, they are made biologically pertinent to the discussion. Some may cavil at the brevity of the approach, but to review it was a pleasure to the eye and an excellent onesitting opportunity to remind oneself of the whole picture
