This is a collection of papers published on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Amsterdam Neurological Society. The twenty-eight scientific articles which comprise the volume reflect great diversity of interest and include all the major divisions of neurology. It also upholds the enviable reputation of Dutch neurology, whose past masters include such names as Kappers, Winkler, Brouwer, Salomonson, van Valkenberg, Bolk, DeVries, and others.

The neuropathological contributions contain studies of myotonic dystrophy, cerebellar degeneration following streptomycin, the histopathogenesis of gliomas, unilateral atrophy of the fornix, and experimental encephalitis produced by Echo virus. Among the anatomical contributions are those on conditioned synapses, the rhinencephalic components of the dorsal thalamus, the return of sensation to skin grafts, and the development of aberrant fibers in the spinal cord. There are discussions of the neurology of consciousness, echoencephalography in the diagnosis of subdural and extradural hematomas, and a variety of other problems. . . .
