This is the first appearance of this book without the name of Arthur B. Noyes whose contributions to the text terminated with his death in 1963. Kolb, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, has reordered the chapters devoted to clinical syndromes so as to conform to the new Eighth International Classification of Disease. This makes the book readily available for international use.

The text is arranged in double columns printed in pleasing type on nonreflective paper. There is an adequate index of 26 pages. Most chapters are followed by an updated bibliography with reference given to recent review articles in English.

Modern Clinical Psychiatry is an excellent reference for those dealing with any aspect of psychiatry. While the orientation is basically dynamic, the author draws on any of the standard methods to restore the patient to better function. The message . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
