We are fortunate that Dr. Stehbens, a prolific worker in the field of vascular disease and, particularly, in the field of intracranial arterial aneurysms, has produced this extensive and detailed monograph on the pathology of the cerebral blood vessels. The organization of the book is traditional and logical. A complete list of references follows each chapter. The author has done more than merely compile the literature, extract salient facts of integrate scattered observations. He has attempted to evaluate hypotheses about the pathogenesis of blood vessel disease and has taken a position on numerous controversial issues. It is understandable, therefore, that the writing occasionally has a polemical tone. Nevertheless, this admirable monograph is an impressive compilation of well-organized writing and includes invaluable reference material.
