Appearing nearly simultaneously are two small monographs on the problem of meningomyelocele, organized along similar lines.
First is a symposium on myelomeningocele held under the auspices of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the second is a report on the team approach to management of this problem, at the University of Minnesota. Each volume is clearly written and comprehensive.
The report of the symposium is valuable because it brings together a wide range of experts from different centers and contains a number of sections not included in the team report.
The special value of the report from the University of Minnesota is that it demonstrates what a single united team can accomplish with distinct emphasis on the results of their treatment. Unfortunately, because of larger print and excessive use of full page x-ray films and photographs, the Minnesota report contains less information than the symposium.
