After a decade, Dr. Dekaban has so revised his text that an essentially new book on the Neurology of Early Childhood results. The first two chapters deal with the development of the central nervous system and the examination of young children and are particularly well organized and useful. A description of each age group is given; the organization of each developmental period is compared, well presented, and illustrated. The performance table on pages 57 and 65 is a valuable reference for the student, clinician, and psychologist.

A chapter on birth injuries is, on the whole, well presented. However, there may be two minor clinical criticisms: it would be desirable to point out the diagnostic value of arteriograms in the work-up of a child with suspected subdural hematoma and a comment on so-called ping-pong fractures in young infants is indicated.
