Some readers may question the need for another book on neurological disorders in childhood. In part this text, though far from covering all neurological diseases and conditions, justifies its publication. It is not intended to compete with some of the standard reference works or the neurological sections of the pediatric textbooks such as Barnett, Brennemann, and Nelson. The authors concentrate on that aspect of pediatric neurology which they feel requires detailed description and areas in which they have had extensive experience.

The book is divided into nine chapters starting with a useful introduction, history taking, and examining techniques of full term and premature children. The second chapter deals with laboratory tests in neuromuscular disease.

The reviewer has some question whether the third chapter, "Upper Neuron Disease," is appropriate for this volume.
