This book is described as "an authoritative, relatively inclusive, conceptual text that will supply the basic information," and Dr. Slager's monograph fits this description exactly.

It has been difficult in recent years for medical students and residents in neurological fields to find an adequate basic neuropathology text; the classical books are either obsolete or too lengthy for the busy beginner delving for a few months into a very specialized area of his training. Dr. Slager's book fulfills this need admirably.

In a well written concise, and didactic manner, the authoress presents nine chapters of material, beginning with normal cytoarchitecture and reaction to injury, and ending with an excellent survey of tumor pathology. The text is supplemented with a large number of photographs further adding to its teaching value.
