(This reviewer feels that he has done an injustice to the editors and contributors as well as to potential readers of this work through his inadvertent oversight of his assignment.) This volume of nearly 900 pages is in the best sense of the word a really monumental effort. Edited by a team of four neurosurgeons, two from Würzburg and two from Vienna, it incorporates the contributions of 33 other co-workers in various neuroscience disciplines combined with pediatricians. In one of the prefaces Professor Asperger, the Director of the University Childrens Clinic in Vienna, underlines the significance of this happy combination of pediatrics with the neurosciences, and in a tasteful forward Professor Georges Schaltenbrand of Würzburg pays tribute to the pioneer work in this field of the late Frank Ingraham, MD.
