This book is essentially an atlas of anatomical specimens of the brain with the vessels injected. The arterial system was studied in 38 brains and the venous system in five. The book has 45 plates showing the arteries and 15 plates showing the veins. Most of the specimens were injected with colored acrylic plastic (red for arteries and blue for veins). Photographs of the dissections were obtained from various angles. Some of the specimens were injected with radiopaque substance and radiographs of the sections were made.

The book has the advantage of showing original dissections instead of diagrams. The quality of the illustrations is perfect. The authors have made a special attempt to answer some of the controversial points which have been brought about by other anatomists and by the needs of the more clinical techniques such as angiography and cerebral blood flow measurements.
