This volume consists of the Proceedings of the International Nuclear Medicine Symposium held in September 1967. Its range includes discussions of instrumentation and trends in improvement in detection and retrieval systems, along with papers on radioactive materials used in investigation of tumors, and the clinical aspects of scanning in various organ systems. The essayists are well known and able contributors in the field, and there is useful open discussion of the subjects presented. The volume certainly belongs in any institutional library as a valuable reference to reasonably current thinking in a rapidly moving field. It suffers from the usual defects of such efforts—the time lag from presentation to distribution inevitably makes the contributions less topical and occasionally dated. The deeply involved reader has had access to this and later information on developments by way of more current literature. The casual reader, on the other hand, will find some of the
