The first edition of this book was authored by Krayenbuhl and Richter and appeared in 1952. At the time of its publication, this book represented an excellent review of the topic of cerebral angiography. The association of Dr. Krayenbuhl with Dr. Yasargil has resulted in the publication of another monograph dealing with vertebral angiography, and now a much enlarged second edition of the original publication, Cerebral Angiography.
The book consists of 16 chapters dealing with the history of cerebral angiography, technique, complications, indications and contraindications, radiological anatomy of the arteries and veins, physiological considerations, angiographic aspects of cerebral herniations, diseases of the cerebral vessels, intracranial tumors, vascular malformations, inflammatory lesions including granulomas and parasitic diseases, and craniocerebral injuries. The chapter on puncture techniques and filming techniques is rather incomplete and not considered up-to-date by modern standards.
