The author reviews the subject of cerebral blood flow in a comprehensive manner and reports on his own studies on the neural control of the cerebral circulation in rabbits, cats, and dogs. Using paired thermistors, one of which is heated, placed in homologous areas of the right and left hemispheres to obtain a semiquantitative measure of local blood flow. Molnar studied the effect of carotid sinus stimulation and denervation, electrical stimulation of the trigeminal and vestibular nerves, sympathectomy, decerebration, and other experimental manipulations. The various experiments are clearly described and illustrated with numerous black and white reproductions of polygraphic recordings which are generally of good quality.
