.... The following is the history of the case: The little girl S., who was but two years old at the time of death, was the first-born of young and healthy parents. In the families of both parents insanity is not unknown; on the mother's side there is a strong hereditary predisposition to mental disease, and several near relatives of the father have developed various forms of insanity within recent years. During the fifth month of pregnancy, the mother was thrown out of her carriage, but did not sustain any serious injuries; the child was born at full term, and appeared to be a healthy child in every respect; its body and head were well proportioned, its features beautifully regular.
