A book about parasites of the nervous system should be welcomed, particularly when originating in South America. The author, however, seems to have contented himself with a superficial review in spite of the considerable experience one expects him to have with his subject.

Short chapters on toxoplasmosis, South American blastomycosis, schistosomiasis, cerebral amebiasis, cisticercosis, Chagas disease and malaria are included. A rather lengthy section on fungal mycology seemed out of proportion to the subject matter of the book. The chapter on South American blastomycosis contains a lengthy list of published cases with nervous system involvement without comment and might have been better placed in the references. The book has no index, a few drawings of poor quality, and original references are often not given but cited as quoted by other authors.
