This is a well balanced book. The assignment of space to the contributors is such, that it results in a constructive and illuminating treatment of the subject. Starting with an excellent presentation of the anatomy and physiology of the labyrinth, dizziness is discussed with a searching yet not dogmatic approach by the otologist, neurologist, neurosurgeon, ophthalmologist, internist, pediatrician, and allergist.

Meniere's disease emerges as a nosologic entity replacing the ill defined, much too flexible, "Meniere's syndrome." Neurologists and internists should find the chapter on audiologic correlates of vestibular disorders very instructive and useful. The differential diagnosis between peripheral and central pathologies is the result of relatively recent research and is now well established.

This book is up-to-date as it treats equally well crystallized facts and concepts still in a state of development. The microscopic slides and index add to the usefulness of this book. It should prove of great value . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
