This volume is the edited proceedings of the third conference on Brain and Behavior held in 1963 as part of the UCLA Forum in Medical Sciences. In this volume will be found a statement, in considerable detail, of the physiological relationships between the brain (especially the hypothalmus) and the gonads. The data reviewed were in large part derived from experimental designs using ablation and stimulation of the nervous system in relation to the gonads and their endocrine products. However, the papers in the volume make it abundantly clear that neuroendocrinology has advanced to the point where more sophisticated techniques, such as used by the microelectrophysiologist, could afford data capable of correlation with both behavior and measurements of endocrine activity.
