The first edition of this well-known book has been considerably expanded to include many more examples of pathological conditions demonstrable by pneumoencephalography. The mechanism of ventricular filling is discussed in relation to the author's earlier experiments with glass models of the ventricular system.
There is a careful description of the anatomy of the ventricular system supplemented by clear colored line diagrams. The cisterns are described in less detail. Excellent examples of most of the pathological conditions that can be shown by this technique have been included. The pathological cases are reinforced by longer descriptions of the neurological findings than is usual in most radiological texts and, in a number of cases, a picture of the lesions at autopsy. In the first edition of this book, the radiographic reproductions were outstanding, and it is unfortunate that these high publishing standards have not been maintained in the second edition.
