This book describes with considerable thoroughness the various major and minor complications that may be associated with neurosurgical procedures. In addition, constructive suggestions indicate how complications can be avoided or treated should they occur.

The book is well printed and well illustrated and offers accurate succinct tables on the morbidity and mortality that may be expected after surgery for brain tumors, acoustic neurinomas, intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, shunting and pain relieving procedures, disk and other spinal surgery, etc.

This is a volume that can be highly recommended as a handbook for neurosurgeons, particularly those in training or beginning their practice. For neurologists the data concerning possible complications should also be well worth reading so that they can better evaluate the potential risks of contemplated surgery on their patients. . . .
